Coaching Expectations

All coaches are expected to:

• Complete a Basketball Victoria Community Coaching course in their first year of coaching (funded by the Club)

• Provide a safe and inclusive environment

• Encourage teamwork and sportsmanship

• Support player development at all skill levels

• Communicate respectfully with players and parents

• Attend training

All coaches are expected to:

• Communicate respectfully with players and parents

• Attend training sessions and games consistently

• Lead by example on and off the court

• Attend annual KVJBC Coaches meeting

• Follow club policies and codes of conduct

Coach - Coaching Courses & Accreditation

Session plans for coaches are available via the Coaching Coordinator.

Coaches may be required to have:

• Valid Working With Children Check

• Basketball Victoria coaching accreditation (preferred)

• Completion of relevant safeguarding requirements

• Basic understanding of basketball rules and game management (preferred)

KVJBC is committed to supporting coach development and may assist with:

· Coaching accreditation courses

· Coaching clinics and development programs

· Resources and training equipment (coaches uniform, basketball, KV clip board & KV backpack)

· Mentoring and support from experienced coaches
