Child Safety

At Keilor Village Junior Basketball Club, we are dedicated to implementing basketball policies that ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children and young people participating in our youth basketball programs. We believe that fostering a positive sporting experience is a shared responsibility among players, coaches, referees, volunteers, parents, and committee members.

The safety and wellbeing of our members is a priority at Keilor Junior Basketball Club, where we actively support Basketball Victoria’s Child Safe Standards and the Victorian Government’s 11 Child Safe Standards. We are dedicated to ensuring that every child feels safe, respected, valued, and empowered while participating in our youth basketball programs and activities.

We encourage all members of the Keilor Junior Basketball Club to speak up if they have any concerns regarding the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person involved in youth basketball. Any concerns should be reported promptly to the club’s nominated Child Welfare Officer. All reports will be handled seriously, respectfully, and confidentially, in line with our basketball policies, with the privacy of those involved protected wherever possible.

Where required, the Child Welfare Officer will escalate serious matters to Basketball Victoria, who will manage the issue in accordance with their basketball policies, procedures, and safeguarding guidelines, ensuring the best interests of youth basketball and the members of Keilor Junior Basketball Club.
